Hi Community,
I've just recently posted my suite, and it has been nicely full for the past 10 days or so. Great experience so far!
I kept the introductory price low, to start to build up a few reviews, but then raised the price starting December 8 - to account for ski season and holidays.
However, a new booking came in today and it calculated on the lower price. I've checked my calendar and it is showing the higher price for those dates. I accidentally accepted the booking at the low price (did not mean to.) So now I have someone staying for 11 prime nights over the Christmas holidays at a ridiculously low price.
I'm not sure what to do - 1st of all about the reservation. OWuld it be reasonable to conact them and renogociate the higher price? Since that is what it shows on the listing, I think that should be okay, but I'm not sure etiquette wise how that works.
And 2nd of all, to make sure this doesn't happen again. How can I correct the price, if it is showing as correct on the calendar page?
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
Deryn
Check if you turned on smart pricing, if so, turn it off.
Thanks I figured it out! I did not update the weekly/monthly discounts when I changed the price and these were too high. But I checked the smart pricing at the same time and am glad to know about that too!
Contact airbnb via phone immediately and demand they fix this situation. It is their mistake or technical glitch and it has happened to me before as well. Do not take no for an answer. The solution is that you shouldn't be left losing a booking and the guest shouldn't have to cancel so airbnb should cover the price difference themselves. This has been the case for me last year.
Thanks for this Taylor. In the end when I dug around I saw it was my mistake. (I did not update weekly/monthly discount for the peak season.) But I am glad to knwo this possibility is there in case it ever happened when it wasn't my mistake. I appreciate your response.
Taylor, PLease tell me how to get a hold of them by phone please!!!!!

I don't think you can/should renegotiate the price for the guests. For some reason a setting you have gave them that price. Re check all your settings..
Thank you. Yes it was this! My discount for a stay of 1 week plus was too high. I didn't reset this when I set the new price. Ugh! My mistake. Oh well, these guests will have a great deal and I won't have to turn over the suite on Xmas day, so I guess it's all good. Learning curve!
