I accidentally cancelled an Airbnb reservation that I made in June. We will be travelling at the end of September. I am a guest. When I rebooked the same room, I noticed that the room is $20 CAD more expensive than the price I got in June. I rebooked the room just now but I am asking if I may receive the $20 back. I literally rebooked the room 10 minutes after I cancelled the reservation. Thanks.
It depends on the host if they want to lower the price. Prices changes as time passed so its common if the price is more expensive or cheaper.
@Angela510 Also the host might be using Smart Pricing option, which automatically adjusts their prices depending on a few local factors (availability, time left).
The only thing you can do is argue the case with your host or cancel and find somewhere else that is within your budget.
It could get worse Angela, depending on your Host cancellation policy, you might have to pay a fee for the cancellation. That fact you could rebook so soon after you cancelled makes me wonder if the first booking had been made correctly in the first place, this is an observation not a criticism.
I'm curious to know how quickly the dates are freed up on a Hosts calendar after a cancellation, perhaps some Host could explain this?

It seems to be automatic. The booking is cleared from the calendar immediately.
If a guest cancels, the dates are freed up immediately.
Good point about the cancellation policy - a new booking is a new contract and the cancellation policy can have changed.
