Our guest bedroom (s) is upstairs but it is right next to our master bedroom. Not private enough? They still have access to the rest of the house, including the finished basement.

One can please some people some of the time, alas we can't please all people all of the time.

Look at it as a one off if you have had a Guest make a remark about the close proximity of your rooms, it could be far worse, they could be in the room next to the Prison Officer in charge of Prison rooms!

@Tom888 my guest room is next to my bedroom & I've never had a guest complain about it.

You do state in your listing that the guest room is next to the master so there shouldn't be any surprises for guests. I've had a look at your listing and I would suggest changing the description to be more about the bedroom & the basement that the guest has access to, rather than a description of the whole house. At the moment it reads almost like a whole house listing rather than a private room.

You should also make it clear in the listing what areas of the house the guests have access to. Is it only the bedroom, bathroom & basement. Or can guests use the kitchen, make themselves at home in your living room etc. Most potential guests don't read further than the first couple of paragraphs on a listing so all the important stuff should be in there.
