Advance booking

As a host when I have months in advance confirmed guests and guest already paid to Airbnb or pre-paid or sur charged, why as a host have to wait 3-5 days after guests are checked in. Why Airbnb did not transfer payout right away after guest confirm with host. Sometimes 4-5month ahead that guest has been make a payment where is the money goes. Please sharing your experiance and oppinion here.

Hi Prin,

I imagine this helps in the event of cancellation and/or alterations of bookings.  Airbnb holds the burden of issuing any needed refunds.  Also, I think it provides a peace of mind for guests in knowing that money isn't already in the hands of the host who actually hasn't provided a service yet.  It is similar to booking a hotel in that you reserve but often you aren't charged until you arrive for your stay.  As a host, I like it.  I don't actually have anyone's money until they are in my prescence and providing them with the accomodation.  It just feels better and more honest, in my opinion.  Maybe Airbnb will eventually offer a discount feature to guests that allows you to receive the money early but they are not entitled to alter or cancel their stay kind of like prepaid packages for hotels.

@Prin0, @Ellen104 is correct.  Airbnb does not release payouts in case the guest arrives at a listing and it is dirty, missing amenities, host does not provide check in access, etc.  This is covered by Airbnb's Guest Refund Policy:

Guests have 24 hours after checking in to claim this refund.  That's why Airbnb doesn't release payouts early.

Also, if you don't like waiting 3 - 5 days to receive payment then choose PayPal as your payout option. You will receive the money 24 hours after your check-in time.
