Airbnb Needs to Make Check In Times CLEAR

When was the last time you hosts used Airbnb to travel? With plus, self check in, and soon the new hotel tonight listings (if it isn't live already) the lines of Traditional Airbnb and HOTEL airbnb are even more blurry.

For one, it isn't clear to guests that they have to coordinate times to meet people who don't have self check in. More and more they just show up, and then dock us for "host late" because we are out living our lives or working other jobs and not standing behind a desk. As much as we try and communicate this, I think that Airbnb needs to Step UP and make it clear before they book with a little pop up or highlighted somehwere "THIS HOST DOESN"T HAVE SELF CHECK IN"

Second, the check in times are buried (along with additional guest charges). This is REALLY important information that guests shouldn't have to search for and should be front and center.

Bottom line, there needs to be some education on the part of Airbnb - particularly with new guests - as to how this works!

For now......I just reiterate everything to the guest myself. Check in times and the fact that we only do in-person check ins so we absolutely need an ETA from the guest in advance.

I agree Airbnb could do a better job on educating the guests on  A LOT of things and making sure critical information is clearly visible to all guests.

Yes, I sound like a broken record reminding them of check in hours again and again
