Airbnb app not pushing notifications

I have been using the Airbnb app on my iphone for several years and it always pushed notifications that show up as soon as a message comes through. But all of a sudden it stopped doing that about a week or so ago and now my responses to guests are getting delayed because I only see the messages when I check my email or proactively check the app. I already tried deleting and re-installing the app. Anyone having a similar issue or experienced this that found a fix? thanks!

Hi Valerie,

We are having the same problem! I have checked with support three different times and they brush it off saying it is working but it isn't. I deleted and re-installed the app as well as well as deleted my history and cookies, but still no notifications. It has cost me at least one booking and what is frustrating is that no one at Airbnb is taking it seriously.

Thanks @Robert0 and Diane - sorry for some reason this won't tag you. I will try calling support today but am not optimistic given their response to you.

Did you call support about the problem? There have to be others having this problem as well.

If you have checked your device, cleared history and contacted Air BNB, I am not sure what is causing the problem.  I am not experiencing it, so it probably is not a regional system glitch.

I've actually had this problem for a while.......Fortunately we don't get a lot of inquiries since we host mostly long term and Henry gets the pings immediately so he lets me know we have a message/inquiry. Once I know a message arrived I will continue to refresh the page till the new message/inquiry pops up and the ping happens. Usually takes 3~5 refreshes. I also deleted + reinstalled the app but didn't help. The app is famously glitchy..... I'm just glad I've never had blocked dates randomly unblocked or experienced a glitch in the pricing.

Same issue here!  Push notifications just stopped.  Not getting notifications for bookings, inquiries, cancellations, alterations, messages from guests, etc.  I haven’t changed anything, they just stopped.  Checked all my iPhone settings and Airbnb settings and all are set correctly.  It’s driving me mad!

@Valerie192 Same problem here. I do get a text message which alerts me however. The ABB app doesn't notify at all.

Thanks everyone - I will also try calling support but won't hold my breath. This is very frustrating. Yesterday I had a guest that couldn't figure out the lockbox and had I seen the message yesterday I would have been able to help her instantly but instead since she couldn't secure the key she  left with it and had to drive back later in the day to return it. Not good.

Hi @Jessica-and-Henry0 @Ian-And-Anne-Marie0 @MicheleandLouw0  @Doug-And-Justine0

I just figured it out!!!

If you go into the Airbnb app (not the iPhone settings which is what I was doing previously) follow these steps:

1) Open Airbnb App

2) Go to your Profile

3) Scroll down to Settings with the little Cog Wheel Icon

4) Right at the top is Notifications. Mine was turned off! for some reason. Once I turned it back on the push notifications started coming right through.

Good luck hope this helps!

@Valerie192

Good that works for you. I don't have 'the cog' I have a bell. Thats the notification section and everything is turned on including 'push notifications' for everything.

I may switch them off then on again - like everything else which doesn't work 🙂

My App version 19.16 (200723)

Hi @Ian-And-Anne-Marie0  I took a screenshot. I see the bell you mention but if you go down a few more lines you will see the Setting cog I mentioned. When I tap on that it takes me to a different Notification setting (super confusing that there are multiple Notifications).

I know app setups will vary but this is how it sorted out for me. Thanks!

@Valerie192

Our Apps are completely different. Maybe its a regional thing?  No cogs over here 🙂

Maybe the non-app site will have the cog setting and perhaps the changes can be made there? Certainly theres been many site changes recently and it wouldn't be wrong to assume that push notifications could have been switched off as a default to reduce server overhead. I'll check there.

Thing is... I never switched off push notifications anywhere and I've been getting them for about two years up until now like you have.

Thanks for the notification.
