Airbnb forced shutdown

As a member of Airbnb I've enjoyed my business hosting for a few years now but I'm sorry to report that it's come to an end. Seems the corrupt Monroe County Florida government has made the decision that only the big resorts are allowed to make short term rentals. They the big resorts have the money to make the politicians do as they please squeezing out the small business people. Here at the Lorelei Marina we have been told that we will be heavily fined if we continue to rent with Airbnb. Seems we have no option but to comply. What ever happened to right to pursue happiness? I'm not happy!

Hi @Randy229 :

I'm sorry to hear about this.  Sounds like Monroe County is stepping all over your rights as a private property owner.    And it sounds like the only recourse you have is to gather other property owners and bring suit,  as the County doesn't seem to want to see reason and find a compromise solution that doesn't step all over your rights.

The folks at the https://www.beacontn.org/ Beacon Center in Nashville have dealt with such issues there,  and may be able to find you a reference to someone who can help.  If you want to peeve Baze a little,  tell him I sent you.

Good luck!  and hopes that you'll make it back to Happy Hosting.
