Are certain countries unable to join?

I have a potential guest trying to book from Iran. She says that she can't enter her phone number for verification. What can she do? Is there a phone number she can call to get help?

As far as I'm aware there are no restrictions on any countries, I can't really see how Airbnb could impose that either but anyway, click on the link for contact options; Twitter will be her best bet -  - Contact Airbnb

Quite ossibly, ABB does not work in every country and certainly Iran has only had sanctions lifted recently, maybe some hangover.

Interesting point but wouldn't that be the other way round that Airbnb might not offer accommodation for safety reasons in Iran as opposed to not permitting an Iranian to use Airbnb in other parts of the world, that would seem like discrimination to me because if the guest from Iran can get a visa to visit Canada and immigrations are happy to let the guest into their country in Canada, can Airbnb really then enforce such a restriction on a guest and if so on what basis?

Hi @Gabriella33, @Amaris0, @David126,

I had a guest from Iran some time time ago, his passport was issued in Iran, but he currently lives in France for business purposes (for 25 years), so his phone number and other verifications properly showed up in the system.

What he told me about Iran with current government, it's slowly getting better and more open towards the western countries. However there are still lots of restrictions inside the country and I could imagine that the internet access is limited and controled...

to complete my message:

I just did a guest research for Iran - there is not a single airbnb listing in the entire country. And I doubt that this for security concerns from Airbnb (there are listings in Iraq, Egypt and other critical countries), for my opinion it is forbidden through Iranian government.
