When you get a message from Airbnb saying the guest wants to cancel and you approve that, it is not registered as a guest cancellation- it is registered as a host cancellation. Host cancellations result in the date being blocked, as punishment for cancelling, and you can't unblock it. If you didn't get a message like that, and the guest just cancelled on her own, without asking you to accept the cancellation, then contact Airbnb to see why the date is blocked and ask if they will unblock it.
