BOOKING FOR SOMEONE ELSE

I have a confirmed booking who has just informed me that the booking is for someone else, not for the person who made the booking online. Is this acceptable on airbnb? How do I confirm the other perosn’s identity? Is this safe? Am I still covered if anything happens? Should I cancel the booking? Unsure how to proceed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tiff

@Tiffany276 No, third party bookings are not accepted by Airbnb: it's directly against the terms of service. See https://www.airbnb.ca/help/article/427/can-i-book-on-behalf-of-a-friend-or-family-member for details. You can contact Airbnb and explain the situation and ask them to cancel the booking penalty-free. I like contacting them on Twitter @airbnbhelp, or you can call them at 61 2 8520 3333.

Unless booker owns a business account, but then still the real guest needs an Airbnb profile and it will be exposed in such a booking.. If a private guest books for a (close) relative, the guest can ask Airbnb for permission. I learned recently it was granted, but be sure you have the written permission in your message system.

You can contact Airbnb, they will cancel the booking if not OK:

Hope this helps,
