Bad photographer from Airbnb

I am a superhost for more than a year. I use the Airbnb reward to request for a professional photographer to take photos of my apartment. I have high hopes that the photos will look much nicer than the photos in my listing as I merely just using my mobile phone to take those photos.

So photographer came and took some photos.  After a week, those photos uploaded in my listing. To my horror,  the photos make my unit looks so ugly.. even my guest who look at those photos asked me.  They said my real unit look so nice, but those new photos all the colours of my furniture and room looks faded, some places too bright, some too dark, he captured at weird angle that make my room look so weird. Certain details like door not close. My room has nice view outside, but he focus on the abandoned site on the left. View on the right that is beautiful,  he did not capture that.

When I complained to Airbnb, they said their photography team has reviewed and approved.  How can that be? It is much worse than the photos I took myself on my mobile phone.  Nobody in Airbnb helped me. So this photographer earned my reward of RM300 and simply do substandard job , worse than an amateur.  If this not stop, I will not be the last host feeling dissapointed.  Anyone can contact me and I would be glad to show you all the photos of that photographer.

Dear Jenny,

I think the pictures you took are very enticing & make it clear that it's a space suitable for families or groups of friends in a complex filled with amenities and stunning city views.  The lighting is great and the place looks both tidy and super clean. The only thing I'd consider changing is showing the couch without the cozy throw--back when my kids were younger, a throw artfully draped across the couch meant someone had spilled something. You aren't the first to express dismay about the quality of the "professional pictures" or that they didn't get to have any input about what they wanted to highlight in their listing. My pictures are not as nice as yours but after hearing a number of stories similar to yours I didn't want to take a chance. Your pictures are as good as I've seen- maybe YOU should be doing a sideline in taking pictures of listings! At least you aren't stuck with the shabby pictures (an excellent reason to avoid using "Plus!) Sally

Hi Sally,

The photos in my listing are now all my own photos. I have taken down all the photos by the professional photographer because those were much worse..

Thanks Sally, for the great suggestion on the couch without the cosy throw. Will take all your awesome ideas and improve on my listing  🙂

Cheers

Jenny
