I would like some advice, I am fairly new to airbnb having only stayed in 2 places before. I have just found what i believe to be a bed bug (see image) I still have another night to stay but I am finding it hard to get settled and asleep knowing I am sharing a bed with some bugs. Please what would be the next course of action and possible outcome?
@Tom3380 Have you contacted your Host? You certainly should in the first instance as they are almost certainly not aware. Not all bugs, are bedbugs and it is difficult to tell from the photo if that one is (you can google images to check). I totally understand your discomfort and would feel the same. If you are sure that it is, then if you notify Airbnb of the problem they will assist you going forward. However, they will most likely ask the Host to resolve the issue and prove that they have indeed done so before allowing them to continue hosting.
@Tom3380 Does the property have a lot of good reviews? If yes then the bedbug could easily have been brought in on your luggage. Looking at the pictures on the internet an infestation will have bed bug poo all over the mattress.
Yes, @Tom3380 but guests are now using this tactic to get a refund. They show a live bed bug, usually on the last minute allowed (now they will have 72 hours), on a blurred picture like that. It doesn't matter if you have hundreds of great reviews. One lie from the guest and it's done. And when the scammer can't get what he wants, it turns out into a personal war, threats and worse.
