Hi @Tracy-And-Paul0 Sunscreen & self-tanning Lotions are the absolute worst! I've had good luck getting most stains out by using Biokleen Bac-Out (an enzyme spray) and/or BunchaFarmers Stain Remover, then washing in hot water. But when all else has failed, and I need to bring out the heavy artillery, this works very well:

- 1 part powder laundry detergent

- 1 part powder dishwasher detergent (I know, seems strange, but is very effective)

- 1 part bleach

- 1/2 part borax

Mix all together in hot water (if you have a top load washer) & then add the sheets & wash on an extended cycle or if you have a front load machine, add to the various dispensers, wash in hot water, and if you have a Heavy Soil option, select that too.

You wonder why anyone would go to bed smeared with sunblock (??) but guess nothing should surprise me anymore. If the sheets are ruined, unfortunately you won't be able to claim for them as Airbnb will consider it normal wear & tear. You could nicely mention it in a private note to the guests when you review them though. Not sure they will clue in & not do it again, but it's good of you to try.

Hope that helps! Karen

We foud out that most of the stains (make up, hair dye) go away if washed on long cycle at 90 C temperature

Other stains (blood, kitchen cloth) goes away if washed with 1-2 cups of bleech on 60 C

Our choice is almost white cheep Ikea bedding, mix cotton polyester because they are easier to wash, quickly dry, do not need ironing and if ruined we can buy new ones without spending too much

I have seen a post recently from a host who have very expensive, colorfull bedding and if just a pillow case is stained he makes a damage claim for full bedding. And get it.

Hi @Tracy-And-Paul0

There's a cleaning-related thread called 'How do you remove stains' which has some great tips which you might find useful! @Branka-and-Silvia0@Karen-and-Brian0, it would be great if you could share your advice there too if you haven't already!
