Being paid by guests

I'm a new host on Airbnb and I already have two bookings.

However, as I haven't hosted before, I don't know (a) how to go about asking for payment and (b) how to secure a security deposit.

For example, is it normal to ask for half of the price of the rental upfront and half when they arrive?

I'm pretty sure that that's what I've been asked to do in the past when I was renting vacation homes on Airbnb.

I don't want to be unreasonable with what I ask for, but I do want to make sure I get paid, and I want to be paid something in advance to make sure I don't wind up with a last-minute cancellation and taking a loss on a rental.

Hi @Ilene6

when the guest books they pay Airbnb. The company holds the money.

you get paid 24 hours after the guest checks in.

your 1st payment can take up to 30 days, as Airbnb what to ensure you are a legit host.

no money is exchanged outside Airbnb.

have a look on question “how I get paid”
