Best Suggestion for Inaccurate Rating

Hey There -

I'm relatively new to AirBnB and set up my 2BR Home for as a full-time rental with Instant Booking, Key Pad entry and Business Travel status.

Here's my problem. My first guests - a couple I hosted last year before I understood the rating system actually hosted a party at the house (against a house rule) and turned the hot tub water the color of milk. Yikes. I overlooked this and gave them a good review because I wanted to build positive reviews for my property. Bummer because in return - they actually gave me an inaccurate review. Although my house it in spotless condition (friends joke about it) the guests oddly gave me a 2 star rating for cleanliness - even mentioning that the baseboards were dirty. This was flat out not true. I was so shocked that at the time I didn't respond.

Now it's too late to respond and this one false and poor rating brings my average rating down from 5 stars to 4.7 stars. Obviously this effects how people perceive the property. Does anyone have suggestions for the best way to address this or move forward?

Gratefully! Tyler

Too late now but in future as you may well realsie now you just need to tell it as it is, no doubt they were expecting this.

Although you feel the rating is "inaccurate," it is still the guest's perception (which obviously varies greatly from person to person) and cannot be stricken from the record just because you don't agree with it.  With more 5-star ratings, your average will increase and you'll be fine.  Just takes time.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. I agree with and respect your point that everyone has their own perspective. I'll consider this a learning opportunity and will keep my focus on creating a great experience for future guests!

🙂
