Bookings in Calendar

Bookings in Calendar

Hello,

I have booking requests showing up in the calendar as Pending. When I click on it and click on the button "Respond to request" I get directed to the home page with a little ribbon on top of the browser stating "You do not have access to this". Tried using Chrome, IE and Edge. Even when I go in to the Inbox, catch the users request mail (if available) and then DECLINE, it stays showing up in the calendar. Only solution I find is declining and then asking the requester to cancel booking request and then the date show up. Can anyone help? This is annoying.

Regards,

Jean

@Jean511  When you get a booking request for certain dates, those dates will automatically block for that request. The host then has 24 hours to Accept or Decline, and in the meantime, before doing that, you can respond to the request if you want to ask them some questions, or most hosts respond by thanking them for their request, saying you're looking forward to hosting them (assuming you don't feel any red flags go up about the guest), then hit Accept. You really shouldn't decline unless you really don't want that guest, you get penalized by Airbnb for declining too often. The reason the calendar gets blocked is that the guest has 24 hours to complete payment before the booking is confirmed.

There's no reason you shouldn't be able to respond to a guest request- it's pretty straighforward. You get a notification that you have a request, then you go straight to it and respond. You don't access that by clicking on the dates on the calendar.

I admit I don't really understand what you're doing exactly that is not working properly, unless there's some tech glitch with your account.

Hello Sarah, Thanks for your reply. Well, I just need to accept the dates. It does let me do it. It stays on pending forever untill I decline, the requester declines and then we do it all over again. In short, if the requester books dates, she or he remains on pending or not possible.

Regards,

Jean

@Jean511   Pending usually means that the money for the booking hasn't been collected yet or Air bnb is waiting for the guest to submit some required verification. And it will stay like that until the booking goes through or the 24 hours the guest has to pay after you've accepted elapses. I think you should contact Airbnb to clarify what is happening, because guests shouldn't have to withdraw the request and do it all over again, that's crazy. Sounds like there's something amiss.

It's a glitchy platform. On my transaction page, it will still say Processing a payment for days after it's already appeared in my bank account. At first I was concerned about why they hadn't released a guest payment for a week after the guest checked out, then I saw the $ was already in my bank account, so now I just ignore that "Processing" header now as long as the money has come through when it's supposed to.
