Hello Fellow Buena Park Hosts,
Buena Park created an Urgent Ordinance# 1662 banning short term rentals (less than 30 days) in the city citing an immediate threat to public peace, health, and safety effective May 15, 2019 and has sent letters demanding we cease and desist operations of STR's.
Quite a few hosts have banded together under the Buena Park Short Term Rental Coalition using email address bpstrcoalition@gmail.com to discuss ways to prevent this ban from becoming permanent. Today, June 11, 2019 at 5pm, is a City Council meeting and one of the items on the Agenda is to review the ban and continue it through June 25th.
If you want to prevent BP from banning short term rentals, please join us tonight at 5pm and give voice to your concerns. You can give a small statement stating why you disagree with this ban.
If you cannot make it tonight, but would like more information, please email us at bpstrcoalition@gmail.com, that is bpstrcoalition @ gmail.com.
Sincerely,
Cassandra E
Buena Park Hostess
Copy of cease and desist letter
Dear Cassandra,
there are likely to be more of these bans coming up as the markets becomes saturated and local residents feel the effect. I'd lobby for a granndfathering in clause for established folk such as yourself and work toward a viable percentage of STRs in your community. An outright ban is a terrible idea but the wild west approach hasn't been good for any communities either.
You need to get the local, tax paying and voting hosts to come to the meeting to lobby for reasonable regulation, we are going to have this issue in Berkeley any minute and we have a poorly written rent control ordinance that makes those with aditional dwelling units leery of longer term rentals and an incredilby tight housing situation. Good luck, Sally
Thanks Sally!

Have you looked up the listings in your area & sent them a msg via Enquiry option to invite them to join the discussion?
There will also be ABB members who post in here that you can network with.
Make sure you also read up on other locations regulations & discussions here in CC as we are all impacted on by these 'rubber stamping' greedy Council tactics.
Most importantly remember there are "grey areas" in law that one can hold others to account for, make the most of those options, wider Central Government/ Common Law Legislation overides local Council bylaws generally.
There should be available a Review/ Appeal process somewhere, if there isn't challenge it as a technicality
All the best
