Can I change the price before accepting a request?

I am new to airbnb and received my first request, which is for 2 nights and 2 people. I accepted this request and I'm fine to honor the price.

Then I got my second request, for 1 night and 2 people. I realized that I could charge a cleaning fee and an additional person fee and weekend rate.

For the second request, I want to update the pricing before accepting - is this something I can do without penalty? As the guest can change the reservation, wondering if I Should contact them first about the pricing, or just make the changes? Or do I need to decline, then make changes?

Please let me know!

@La35 If it is a booking request instead of a booking inquiry, you cannot change the price since those dates are blocked. If you change the base price which those blocked dates use, I think that it will not affect those either.

You can put your listing on snooze or inactive status when you make price change. Therefore, you have plenty of time to make them right. Otherwise, it will make you look bad once a guest finds the price prior to the booking and after the booking is hugely different.

@La35

we all make mistake when we start the hosting journey, so don't stress out, especially when coming to pricing, i myself when i 1st start forgot the cleaning fees as i could not see it at 1st glance but added while the booking was done. Setting lower price does not guarantee a review or good review so focus on setting the right price for ur market and area. Don't work for free even without review I never rent out when i 1st start with no review at discount price, because did not want to set a discount listing. And up till now i don't care about Review i have been Superhost many time sometime lose it and sometimes get it back, what is the most important for me it is to do the right things by my standard, to make sure i don't lie or mislead on my listing and always make sure the space is spotless with great linen, after all the rest will come into place.

The only things i see missing in ur listings are Towels, and bedside table with lamp even 1 is nice and 2 pillows will be great instead of 1, hand wash and toiletry in the bathroom also make a big difference, ur space is nice and clean but need a little bit of small deco and amenities.

Good luck, and don't start working for free because u need a good review and just be honest with yourself and ur guests.

Sometimes host makes more fuse about Reviews than guests themselves, especially mature hosts. Focus on ur target guests and all come in to place, he might take time

Thank you so much. Very encouraging. I also didn't see those functions when setting it up.  I do have those things you mentioned except the table and lamp, so will pick something up. The pics were what I used previously for a rental listing for the entire house, so also will update. Great tips and advice.
