Cancellation Fee

I went away from London to Melbourne, Colombo and back to London from 16th April to 21st May.

I blocked all the day I am away. But someone managed to book on the 30th April and I request him to cancel

but he did not. So I did cancel and BNB has imposed a cancellation fee of £72. Please help me to recover that money.

I have not done anything wrong.

@Gamini2 Unfortunately these are the new rules. Is this your first cancellation? You shouldn't be paying if it's the first cancellation. Here you can find the info: https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/990/i-m-a-host--what-penalties-apply-if-i-need-to-cancel-a-reser...

If you need to cancel because of an extenuating circunstance, then no penalties should apply but you need to contact AirBnB and submit proof. Here the info: https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/1320/what-if-i-need-to-cancel-because-of-an-emergency-or-unavoid...

@Gamini2  When you talk to airbnb as @Bruna-and-Siana0  suggested, make sure to explain that your calendar was actually blocked for the day the guest booked and that there must have been a mistake on Airbnb's end that the booking was allowed to go through in the first place.

Hi there I am having similar problem as in regard Airbnb fee for a reason that was absolutely not my fault , and I am requesting Airbnb to return my money as I have not cancelled any booking, there was a technical problem

of which Airbnb are aware of , as in regard of my calendar , would not let me block dates or even better switching from instant booking to a booking where guests  were to contact me first.

I have explained several times to the support that I was having problems with blocking the dates in my calendar they did not solve the problem, and they have penalised me Euros 74.00 for something that I have not done , I am fuming , angry , because we discussed it last week Friday , and they managed to change my instant booking at least, so I would not have trouble with the dates.

i will not easily let go as I feel robbed, customer service is a wreck , and I wish to make a complaint against Airbnb,

i have phoned them today and they said that a manager apparently is dealing with the matter ,I do not trust them.I have recently heard so many complaints about Airbnb ,but I want to make a complaint, I have right for that money , plus I have an agent that I have to pay his fee, I have been penalised for no reason, am still waiting for their contact as in regard , but meantime I want to start my complaint can anyone help?

Agreed. If he blocked the days then the system should not have let the guest book the dates. It should have honored the block.

I do think the system is glitchy, lately.  I blocked a month temporarily for a local non-profit and when they didn't complete their booking I unblocked them. Then looked and Airbnb's app had blocked the next four months. I had to manually unblock them all. Sigh.
