Cancellation Policy

Hi, My name is Gustu. I am a host from Bali. I just want to ask about the cancelation policy.

I have guest booked in one of my villa and they request cancel due personal reason then i cancelled it.

When i got the next payout for one of booking, airbnb took almost 80% of the amount for previous booking as cancelation fee. When i saw it on airbnb cancelation policy, there was $50 instead of $100 charged of my next payout.

My question, how to contact the accountant/finance of airbnb to short this out ? I just need the explanation.

Thanks

Gustu

If a guest wishes to cancel, they must do so themselves. When you cancel there are financial penalties and blocked calendars amongst other things. You can read the terms and conditions. As a host, you should never ever cancel.

A guest who asks you to cancel is doing so because they will be reimbursed in full, which they will not be if they cancel themselves. They may even get extra money to make up for the inconvenience of their host having cancelled their booking.

Never initiate a cancellation! The guest needs to initiate or you will be penalized.

This seems to happen a lot to new hosts: that they cancel a booking when a guest requests it, thinking they are only helpful. Gustu, sorry this happened to you when you only meant to do right by the guest, but rule nr. 1 for hosts on Airbnb is that you never cancel a booking unless YOU absolutely have to, because you will be punished for it by having taken $$ out of your next booking profit. You need to let the guest do it, then there are no consequences for you. I suggest you  familiarize yourself with the rules, then you'd be better prepared. Good luck next time!
