Hi everyone , I would like to apply a strict cancellation policy for some particular months and the remaining months ( low season) a moderate policy. Is it possible ? Cheers Karl
so basically I can't apply a strict policy for July & August today whilst having a moderate policy activated for November & December ?
No you can't do that....the only thing you can do is as your early months of the year fill up, then change your policy to strict. Or, if you think your busy high season months will fill up faster, then make it strict now and change to flexible later.
To be honest, we have played around with flexible and strict has in over a year and half of hosting had one cancellation, which was way out and easily rebooked.
Hello!
I have found that with my strict cancellation policy, I have been able to deter troublesome guests. When I first started with a flexible policy, I had guests cancelling last minute and jumping around from host to host to see if they can get a better deal. It unfortuantely allows them to shop around up until the very last minute. I decied to stick with the strict policy for the entire year so that I can manage my time, inventory, and the quality of service.
@Karl25 When considering the cancellation policy, there are several factors. For your high season, how far in advance do travelers book? For me, the high season includes several large music festivals and people book 8-10 months in advance. I have a strict cancellation policy until these dates are books then drop down to moderate. I agree flexible is not a good idea unless you are in an area where there is little competition or there is great demand.
