Cancellation by host - calendar is blocked

Hello Airbnb Community,

I had an instant booking while I was negotiating a special offer for a one week rental. I cancelled the two night instant booking, ut now the calendar is locked and won't let me book the one week reservation. Can anyone help?

That is a consequence of cancelling a booking, your dates are blocked.

@Graham-and-Debra0 as @David126 said, when you cancel a confirmed reservation, in this case an Instant Book reservation, one of the penalties is that the dates are blocked to other reservations.  That prevents hosts from cancelling in favor of more lucrative bookings which is unfair to the guests with a confirmed reservation.  Here's an Airbnb help file that explains it all:

How unfortunate, now you lose both. Also keep in mind you're only allowed to cancel one reservation in a 6 month period, then there is a fine levied of $50, and then $100 for the next.
