Cancellation.

I recently canceled a trip, it was well within the cancellation period. The host told me I would be refunded. The problem is the card I booked with is no longer active, and I had to close that account due to fraud. So I now have a brand new account and card. Airbnb told me my bank would have access to my closed account and my bank told me that Airbnb has to put it in the new account. So just wondering if anyone has had this experience. Is it likely I’ll get my money back...

If the bank refuses & returns the funds sent to your now closed account you could ask Airbnb to re-send the funds to your now on-file new account.

 

Personally I wouldn't want Airbnb to be able to bill one account but issue a refund to another account without strong safeguards.

 

You didn't ask to have to close your card account due to the fraud, so you shouldn't have to jump through hoops to get the credit applied to your correct account - I'd be shopping for a new bank!
