Cancelling a reservation on mutual agreement

I want to cancel a reservation, which was agreed by me (the host) and the guest. Is it still necessary to pay a penalty?

i have a similar question, but i made a mistake in my schedule and now the place is blocked after the cancellation which is unfortunate because some other people want to book. what to do? and how can i get in touch with someone from airbnb...?

The possibility does not exist. Either the guest cancels and you refund the stay but he pays the service fee or you cancel and get penalised, fees and blocked calendar. You cannot rebook the days then.
If it was your idea, you can ask the guest to cancel and you refund the rent and the service fee. - best to amend the booking first. Reduce it to one day, the guest accepts that first, cancels the day and you refund
