Cancelling reservation due to bad reviews.

I made a reservation at the end of July for the 29th October.  When i made the reservation the host had fairly good reviews, but as we approach the date of the reservation, i notice that his reviews have become aweful and i no longer want to stay there anymore.  When i tried to cancel the booking, i have found that he has a strict cancellation policy requiring 50% of the booking fee.  Am i to understand that regardless of the deterioration of his listing he can still enforce this cancellation fee.  This is not a single poor review, its 5 consecutive appaling reviews , citing no contact, poor service and poor property management. The host has not responded to a single review nor has he responded to my initial e-mail, so i can only assume that the reviews are based in truth.

Does anyone have any advice,? if it was just me and a mate i would just take the risk and suck it up, but its me and my young teenage daughter and it will be her first time in London.  I am also a Airbnb host, and i couldnt have complaints of this nature on my listing, nor would i ever not reply to an initial booking request.

You could contact ABB and see I suppose, you would need to argue it was an extenuating circumstance.

Or just cancel as you have a right to do and take the conditions.

@Simon111 This sounds quite inconvenient.

I agree with @David126. Contact Airbnb and ask about it.

Use the link below to see the different ways to contact.

But, what do you mean that he didn't reply to your first request? Did you make a request or you booked instantly?

Did you book and then you asked the host about something and he didn't reply?
