Change dates on inquiry -- an inquiry not pre-approved.

Guest wants to change dates after host and guest messaged re the original dates.

Host is happy to change the dates, but meanwhile there's a pending request and the only options are approve, decline and get penalized.

Host is not happy to get penalized for declining.

Especially because it's a simple thing of just being able to pre-approve dates that Both host and guest have agreed by Communicating that different dates suit both host and guest better.

What's the solution?  I wrote her back to send another inquiry, but meanwhile the first inquiry is pending and I will be penalized if I don't respond to it, and I will be penalized for declining.

This is a house, not a hotel.  I'm a five-star host.  Why can't I do a simple thing like accepting a reservation but changing the dates in the request?

You can. Send a special offer. Or accept the reservation and then make an alteration, and have your guest approve the alteration.

My host said that one of the dates was not available but it showed as open when I did the reservation, I asked what to do, got no answer so canceled reservation, who's was pending and rebooked for the days she told me,
Now I m got charged $35 for it?
Could that be right ?

That sounds very strange. You should contact Airbnb rep. Either search the forum for How to contact Airbnb, or tweet at them.

I am also having a similar issue.

I initially contacted a host with specific dates and since it was a long-ish stay, they sent me a special offer. The offer expired but now I'm ready to book with different dates. The host wants to send me another special offer but we are locked to the initial dates. The only way to change the dates is requesting to book which is going to charge me the full price (no special offer applied).

Is there a way to solve this? Thanks

@Vasilis49

Option 1. When sending a new special offer, the "old" special offer must be retracted.(sometimes even when it is expired by time limit). BTW The new special offer by default fills in the same dates, but they can be changed.

Option 2. The host need to change the price manually in the calender for the desired dates in a way the total reflects the special offer. Then you can book.

Option 3: Book the place for the normal price. After confirmation of the booking the hosts can use  the "change" option in the reservation to correct the price. But it means you first have to pay full price and then are refunded the difference.

Thanks 👍🏼
