Changing phone number in my profile

I tried changing the phone number in my host profile,as the old one doesn't exist any more,but unavble to do so,keep getting message saying "You'll need to use a different phone number, we can't support this one."

I have now tried it many times over a number of days,to no avail. Can anyone help resolve my issue?

Apparently, I have listed a land line and a mobile.  I want to make the Mobile the default.  How do I do it?
