My cleaners misread the calendar and showed up to clean when the guests were still in the house. They went through the garage and straight into the house and startled the guests. The guest is said he’s going to report me and he’s super upset. What should I do?
Report you?! That sounds a little over the top. When I worked in housekeeping at a hotel I walked in on a few different guests. This is not unheard of. I would send over a bottle of wine for the inconvenience and apologize. But do these guests really think they are the only people with a key to the property? It was clearly a mistake not a malicious snooping or break in. It would probably be in your best interest to call Airbnb and offer your side of the story.
@Kara114 Make sure it is documented on airbnb's message system that it was an honest mistake by the cleaners, your apology, etc. I don't know how long their stay is, but you could certainly tell them you are happy to give them a refund if they want to leave [assuming you are okay w/that]. I would also contact airbnb, tell them what happened, and ask their advice. You don't really want airbnb's advice, but it gets you on record with them, stating that it was an accident by your cleaning company, not any type of snooping or anything done by you personally.
The guest sounds like a jerk. I wonder if they were doing anything they shouldn't be doing, or why he would be so upset that he wishes to ruin your business?
Me: Just talked with my cleaners, they misread the calendar and thought you were checking out today. I am so sorry!!
Guest: No it was not cleaners. The woman who came in after the man was NOT in uniform. There were NO business cards . There was NO marked car. However I do have the plates and I will get them ran and see if they tie back into a “cleaner”. If they check out to be cleaners no report will be made. My sister feels violated of privacy and belongings. And on top of that no one knocked on the door
(FYI-I don’t use a cleaning company hence no uniforms)
I comped him a couple hundred bucks
Why do we need to make up stories when they are ones like this just waiting for us?! Uniforms? Business cards?
::stupid is as stupid does::
Good grief, what kind of whack job things that house cleaners wear a uniform??? Did he time travel here from 1930???
Omg, so women have to wear uniforms when they clean?!
Please leave a detailed review! There is no way I would ever want to host this guy!!
