On the first day that I arrived, I noticed cockroaches. I emailed the host, who notified me that her last tenant 2 weeks prior had noticed the cockroaches but that she had thought the problem had been solved. She stopped by the next day to clean the kitchen and found a lot more. When I asked her what she had done about the problem or what she was going to do, she was vague and seem to think that a cockroach trap would be enough. (Btw, she put no bait in the traps, so it caught nothing the first night. We put the bait in the next day and caught a lot.)
Here's my problem. I booked this apartment for 2 months. Any replacement booking is much more expensive (50% more expensive) because the duration is so long and it is last minute.
There is nothing comparable in my price range (even including the 200 USD they offered). So I am considering whether I should just stay, since everything else requires shelling out a lot of money.
I was offered a 50%-refund by a previous case manager for every night that I stayed there but now my current case manager says that she can't offer me 50% unless the host agrees to it. The host is clearly at fault and has admitted to the cockroaches in her messages to me. I have also sent Airbnb photos of the problem. Has anyone else had this problem? What can I do about it?
