Why are customers being charged right away? My customer canceled because of it.

A little silly for your customer to cancel because of this - as airbnb makes it clear in all publicity that full payment is due on booking for late bookings and split payment available for bookings made some time in advance @Kk5

Never had a guest have a problem with it with four years experience and hundreds of guests.

You have to wonder why a guest would go though the effort of making a booking, paying in full and then going to the effort of cancelling it? Sounds like you avoided a problem guest.

I think it was just an excuse from the guest that just wanted to cancel their reservation. I honestly prefer that payment is made up front especially when we are being rated on value and the memory of dishing out cash has since long past. Airbnb has been charging quite a lot for their service fee to the guest and now in my area covering every type of lodging, state, county, town tax imaginable witch makes if more challenging to get a fair rate without backlash on the value rating.

@Kk5 Isn't this exactly how it would work for any other travel related expense?  A hotel, airline or other tickets? You pay when you make the reservation not when the event occurs.
