I have a guest that is supposed to arrive today. I sent a message over a week ago asking for arrival time. I sent another one yesterday. There is no reply to either of them. I have no idea when to expect him, and have places I need to be. I sent another message today and gave him the key code to the house. He is coming from Korea, so I worry maybe that he doesn't understand my messages. Any idea on how to proceed? I don't know how to contact him any other was than via the Air bnb site.
Thank you for your time and help!
Becca
Agree nothing you can do, I have my check in time set and try also to find out what time they are likely to arrive, if not you need to be there between the hours you say you will.
I usually try to set a one-hour window for arriving guests to know when to expect them. For people coming from overseas I usually ask for the airline and flight number so I can check to see if the flight is delayed if they don't show up when anticipated. My listing gives a range of checkin hours they should see before they book too.
In the rare cases where there hasn't been a good response or any response about check in time I go about my day. You shouldn't let other plans go as you'll resent the guests. I just send a message saying I didn't hear from them about a checkin time and I'll expect to be back after x o'clock. If I have their phone number sometimes I'll text that too.
In cases like this you can also call Airbnb that you can't reach the guests but have to be somewhere else later and can't wait all day.
They'll try to reach out to them too. But at least there will be an additional record of your fruitless efforts.
