Damage Protection Policy

I rent my cabin on Vrbo because they offer a damage protection policy which covers us with a minimum of $1500 in case renters cause a lot of damage. I thought it was enough until one rental ruined out  carpet with a bunch of candle wax. Now I’m going to have my renter opt for the $79 policy which will cover our rental up to $3000 in damage. Does Airbnb have a similar policy because collecting a $250 isn’t going to cut it. If there is no such option with Airbnb then how do we collect for potential excessive damage.

regarding wax - lay donw the newspaper on the carpet and start ironing, change newspaper and repeat... until the wax is completely melted and absorbed into the newspaper

Does anyone have any idea how they handle excessive damage that is more than the security deposit? How do you get reimbursed for excessive damage?
