Damaged fire pit

Hope someone can give advice. Had a guest damage our brand new & expensive propane fire pit. They placed the removable steel centerpiece on it while the table was lit & now the cover is charred & warped. I cannot order a replacement part--the company needs to send a tech ($75 service call) to look at it to see if it's reparable first (I know it's not). All of this w/happen past the 14 day resolution period. The guest has acknowledged that they damaged the table after I brought it to their attention & they are saying they placed cover on because the fire pit sounded like fireworks & the lava rocks flew out of the table hurting the guest who made reservation (but no one else & she said she's fine). I don't think this is true & think it's a ploy to avoid damage charges, but I will have the tech.take a look at it. In addition, these guests damaged my dining table w/watermarks, left trash, left blue stains in 2 bedrooms, the hallway, and my kitchen counter (all which I was able to remove). Any advice on how to handle? I'd like to charge for the fire pit cover, but can only estimate on cost.

File a claim with the guest right now for an estimated amount - say that's it's an estimate to be clarified after the tech reviews the extent of the damage.  Work as quickly as possible and communicate, communicate, communicate with the guests and Airbnb through the Resolution Center.  If you haven't reached out to Airbnb, do so immediately and get a case manager.  Assuming that the damages do not exceed the $350 security deposit you have on your listing, you should be able to recoup the money for damage repair.

Get on the phone with Airbnb right now and start a resolution request before the next guest checks in!!!
