Deceiving Guest

I have been a super host for past 5 years and planning to maintain it, but some guest have plan of their own to make false reports to get discounts.

Just recently a guest who is staying for a month made a false report of bedbugs, and right away she asked what I am I going to offer her, As soon as she said that I knew she is trying to get money out of me. I knew she was lying, because I have pest control contract for every 3 months they spray for household bugs, I ran to the unit looking for the bedbug that doesn't exist, I asked her where is it and she said she flicked it to the wall, looked even deeper with flashlight and found nothing, it has ben 2 weeks since then and she has not said a word. In conclusion she has caused plenty of stress and to be sure I will leave her 1 star review for lying or is there a better way to deal with it?

@Safa3 The only way to deal with this is by the review system. Even then there is every chance the guest will just create a new account but at least you will have tried to protect other hosts.

@Safa3 When you get a scamming guest, it’s best to get them out immediately. The danger is not only the review, but the likely possibility of a free stay. I can see her going to Airbnb after her stay is over, crying ‘bed bugs’ to them, and they refund her. It’s happened many times, as reported on this forum. You need to call the guest’s bluff. After all, if there are truly bed bugs, why on earth would they want to continue to stay? Money back, on condition they vacate immediately. I fear you are stuck with this one now, though.

Dear Colleen

The guest has to prove there is such a bug before getting a dime back, its all about documentation and nothing has been presented. As a matter of fact she contacted me today saying there is no bugs, go figure.

@Safa3 what you say is how it should be. Sadly, based on reports on the Community Centre, what @Colleen253 says is how it can be.

Anyway if she now says there are no bugs you should be ok.
