Does Airbnb know when guests arrive?

Experienced vacation rental owner but new to the whole Airbnb thing: 

I've been communicating with my guest arriving next week.  All looks good, great even.  Does Airbnb expect to be notified when a guest physically arrives at the vacation rental?  If so, how is this done?  If not, I guess that Airbnb simply assumes that all is well unless told otherwise.  Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Airbnb- an awesome booking service for your guests- No you do not need to notify Airbnb when your guests arrive or depart for that matter,that is all between you and your guest.

Not possible until a booking is made.
