Error 504

Hi,

I keep getting Error 504 when trying to reply to a guest. It doesn't happen all the time, but does from time to time.

When it occurs I am usually using Explorer to log into the site. If I try to log in with Chrome it just says something went wrong, try again. Then when I do eventually after a few tries, get into the site with Explorer I get the Error 504 on the page when I send a message, and the message is LOST so I have to retype it again....?

I haven't been able to send all afternoon and have a guest arriving this evening I want to contact.

Any help - ideas

Greg

Hi Greg,

This has been happening more and more to me also, and over the last week too.

I get it while using Chrome.

Sadly, I dont have a fix - but would also like to hear what's up with this!

I get that problem on both Chrome & IE, but not Firefox. 😕

Same here, I'm a Chrome user.

If this post (and any previous messages) get through in the first go, then it's a miracle!

SOOO glad others are having this issue, means it's not my PC. I try with Chrome, IE and Firefox and it's hit and miss. That's why I wrote a TEST message before this one. Yesterday I gave a nice 10 line post and the message FAILED to go, error 504. And I couldn't be bothered to rewrite. Also after 3 attempts yesterday I gave up. Today it seems to be okay. Well, for now.

The issue now is, how do we contact Airbnb Tech department to look into the matter??? Clearly it's a site issue. But we are all hosts or guests to the site and not admin. How do we get Airbnb to look into it to see what the issue is???

I am going to try and see where the rest of you posting here are all from SA or around the worls. If only SA then at least we know it may be a SA issue, maybe an issue with the Sealink cable, or the Airbnb local server? Or a network thing with Eishkom. (That is Telkom not Eskom - but both can be refered to as Eish I guess...)

Now that I know it's not JUST me I can investigate more and IF I find something out, or MAYBE Airbnb see's this, then great...

Okay so Allison is from USA so it's not just an SA thing.

WIll try get hold of Airbnb

I get the exact same issue too! Helpdesk just asked me to delete my cache and cookies. But the problem is still there. Clearly this is a site issue, not my browser or PC!

Error 504

I do not have an issue with my guest, he has asked a question and I can't reply. The issue is with AirBNB. It is fine having a community but how are we expected to solve  a tech issue? I am also having great difficulty logging in. Does anyone from AirBNB read what the community is saying, to try to resolve these issues. Not being able to reply also affect my rating as the clock keeps ticking down.

As with many others as detailed below, I can't send a message, and AirBNB does not have tech support contact details, which is hopeless. This is obviously a world wide problem.

Please rectify ASAP.

Happens to me in Singapore too!

Just happened to me - I'm in Australia.
Not happy.

😞

My message was going to a guest who has a confirmed reservation, so I was able to send the message as a text, directly to their mobile phone.

I am getting a lot of 504 errors as well  - Cape Town - chrome - the annoying thing is that I keep losing the messages that I posted to the client and have to rewrite it - sooooo annoying. It seems to be an airbnb bug ... c'mon guys - sort it out ...

This has been happening to me for the past few weeks. Airbnb does not seem to support the website as much as they do the app. There are a number of bugs on their website. It is poorly developed and the search algorithm gives different results on the website compared to the phone app!

Anyway, the only workaround I have found for this 504 error is to use the app instead of on the website.

Hope this helps.

I get similar problem for 2 days. Tried writing to my host and had a couple of details and each time 504 came out, I had to retype everything and the site loads so slowly that it just wasted a lot of my time.

You guys may be right that the response on web is extremely frustrating. I have no issue with the responsiveness of any other websites i use except AirBnB. I tried on IE & Chrome all also very slow.
