I'm trying to figure out how to get our house to show up under the filter "For Families". We have an entirely private house with a fully furnished kitchen, living room, dinning room, two bedrooms, laundry room, patio, driveway, etc... Our target audience is specifically for families. We are realitively new to Air BnB, but we became Superhosts in our first quarter and are currently Superhosts. Why doesn't our house populate the list when I do a mock search and click the filter "For Families"?
Thanks,
Kristian
Hello @Kristian36 ,
From the list of family-amenities (to choose from in the settings), nothing (except 1) is mentioned in your listing under aminities for familes. Not sure, but could that be the reason ?
Best regards, Emiel
@Kristian36: You need to go into 'Progress' and then into 'Opportunities' on your dashboard. There you will see the 'Family' box. Click into that. It will tell you where you are in regard to being put into this category. You need at least two reviews from Families, along with Family amenities, etc. Hope this helps.
Rebecca, that was so very helpful.....not even the customer service reps have let me know....they just keep guessing. now though i have 5 star reviews, but doesn't seem those guests designated the 3rd and 4th guests as children.....what a connundrum.....and now, people are asked quite early in the search window if they are family as work.....anyone not working will hit Family, and many of us will not show up....
Hello @Kristian36,
Further to @Emiel1's comment, the new "Families" collection for trip types requires that the house rules state that the listing is suitable for children and infants.
How do I join the Family collection?
Steve.
plus, i'm in my 60s and my children are in their 30s. they certainly don't need a crib, or outlet covers.....guess we are not really a family huh?
@ChuckandCarole0 Bet they need plenty of outlets to plug in their electronics though, and high speed Wifi 🙂
It is really dumb that "Family" listings are assumed to mean there are underage children in the mix, with all the necessary amenities to accommodate babies and children. That category should be called "Child Friendly" if airbnb is going to require that a host provides cribs, crayons and high chairs.
Yes Sarah, Child friendly would be the solution.....but to narrow it down to those two categories which it would be human nature to select Family if a traveler is not working, and then not have listings showing up at all unless they are fit for little ones leaves so many hosts out of the picture. it hasn't been thought thru and
1) limits many listings from coming up in a search anymore.....also,
2) doesn't airbnb have a policy where children under 2 are free?
and then from the link Steve kindly posted:
3) "You’ll also need at least 2 five-star reviews from families. To count as a family review, a child or infant must have been included as a confirmed guest on the booking.
and then to assume that "Families" must have a TV???
Airbnb's
"Host the way you want to"
sadly is no longer true...
