Hello
We have had a request to use our property as a filming location for 5 days with a crew of 20. Some of the crew also want to stay in the house. Does anyone have any experience or advice on this?
Thanks
Rachel
Hello @Rachel352. I had experience with that outside Airbnb, and for sure it is beyond airbnb's competence because a civil contract would apply here, at least for the filming part of it. When it comes to accommodation, it is within airbnb's terms of contract.
OMG no! Unless you charge plenty plenty plenty and have a separate contract made and signed relative to damages that may occur, with someone who is actually financially responsible AND have yourself or someone you trust ON SITE the whole time AND have the film crew agree to your monitor's presence. And depending on your preference, exclude certain 'types'f of films from being permitted.
Thanks for the advise! I've had a few requests for photo shoots and one for a film location. I've turned down the photo shoot requests because I don't get enough information from the people inquiring and the information offered is sparse. The film request is new and I've requested more information. The other thing that is concerning me is that these requesters don't have profile pictures and few if any verifications or reviews.
Hi @Rachel352
If a film company want to hire your place for a shoot. Airbnb is not the platform to use.
Location companies would be paying a lot more than your nightly rate for your place.
You would need to have a clear understanding of how they want to use your place, what daily rate they are intending to pay, what insurance they have in place. What they are going to be doing in terms of of extra toilet facilities and catering facilities (will they be using your electricity for this?).
What changes they might make to your property?
What will they do about damages?
What arrangements do they have in place for post shoot cleaning etc.
At a minimum you need a contract that outlines all of this plus a copy of their insurance.
