First time booking - is this a dodgy Host?

I'm travelling with my family to London and everything seemed ok with my booking until Friday when I received a cancellation from Airbnb.

The following day the host contacted me via Airbnb and said that there was a technical issue with the listing and they'd cancelled all his bookings but he'd been in contact with Airbnb and the property would be re-listed early this week and it was still ours if we wanted it. I responded ok and whilst thinking it was a bit strange didn't think anything more about it given it was my first Airbnb experience.

However, last night I received a mail from Airbnb with the subject Trust & Safety. It stated that someone had tried to contact me via personal email or Facebook and that they had removed their account and i'd no longer have access to their message thread. It said I should cease communication with them.

They didn't give me any details but given the cancellation I'm assuming it's the Host of the property that was cancelled. Now the odd thing is I haven't had any communication with the Host or anyone else related to Airbnb that seem suspect nor was the Hosts account cancelled.

Finally, the property was relisted today and the Host has contacted me to remake the booking.

We've been refunded so I can simply ignore the Hosts request but given it was in the location we wanted our preference would be to rebook.

Just after some advice on whether people feel I should proceed with the booking based on their experiences?

Cheers.

Kirk.

@Kirk14 You can always read the reviews left by other guests on a host page and decide if you can trust the host before making and reservation. As you are a new guest on the network i would advice you to book a host that has good experience and atleast a few 5stars reviews. Good luck!!!
