I've been renting out rooms in my house for close to ten years and probably going on five years with Airbnb. Over the last three months I have just had one frustrating and obnoxious guests after another. I actually had to have one removed because of her bad behavior. And now I've got another one. Thank God she's leaving on Tuesday. I have pretty simple house rules and there's just common courtesy and it seems to be so hard to find in today's world. My rooms are fully furnished with high-end sheets towels microwave coffee pot in refrigerator and the last two people have just completely trash the rooms and trash the house. I get so tired of referring back to the house rules. How do you guys deal?

@Julie131 several of your recent reviews report a strong smell of dog urine. This would certainly put me off from staying with you, and I think guests who are not will be ones you don't want. In your shoes I would address that issue and make clear in your listing that you have done so.
I am affraid you are not the only one.... I've seen the same posts from other hosts as well.... I would say this is the result of Airbnb "guest is not responsible for anything" policy 😞
Airbnb acted like unresponsible parent and spoiled his children (guests)

Judgmental little thing aren't you? The stuff these people have done to my house included breaking windows pouring punch on the floor and bedbreaking into my house after the reservation was over and I wasn't home. Yeah that has a lot to do with the unsubstantiated reviews I've gotten parent shame on you for being so judgemental without knowing the facts but then that's pretty typical of our world today
@Julie131 I am sorry I certainly didn’t mean to offend. One fact is that this does appear in several of your recent reviews and another fact is that many people will be put off by it. Another fact is that those who aren’t put off either don’t read carefully or don’t care, and those are not guests I would trust or want. Sincerely just trying to help.
First of all the last person he complained about the dog odor broke into my home. I was on vacation for two weeks and I had blocked the rooms and somehow Airbnb have unblocked the rooms and applied instacheck on the rooms. As soon as we found out we contacted the guest and told him the room was not available and he needed to make other arrangements and he was refunded his money. Ethan broke into my house, broke a window and crawled in and spent the night. Yes there's a police report filed. The heater was turned off so the house is cold and the dogs have been cooped up and it had a few accidents. For the record, when people book I always send them an email telling them that sometimes at the house smells doggy because I have a number of elderly dogs who have accidents and I asked them if they are uncomfortable with that to please cancel and they won't be penalized. Secondly this guy complaining about the heat in the house could have walked out in the hall and it just did the thermostat or he could have taken out the electric blanket which he was aware of in the closet. but the point is he broke into my house he broke a window to get into my house. The other guy that complained about the smell was extremely passive-aggressive. You leftk garbage all over the room. Every day he had a complaint. my room State very clearly that it's a room rental only and kitchen privileges are minor. He broke my garbage disposal by filling in full of fibrous vegetables. He broke it it's not just jammed up he broke it. When I told him to please not use it anymore it was broke and he still kept shoving his vegetables down in there. He broke a picture in my house because he stumbled in drunk. He sent a report to Airbnb that I wasn't answering his texts because he text me at 3 in the morning and I was responding immediately. Then when he finally left and left the room and a total disarray. He used my antique furniture to Chop his vegetables on. He then got arrested about a week after he left my house for disorderly conduct and he has the balls to call me to come get him out of jail. Again like I said when people book a room I let them know that their dogs here and that their elderly and sometimes are in odor and unfortunately that has been used against me to try and get free or reduced rent.Like I said I've been running my rooms out for over 10 years and I've been with Airbnb for 5. I am very upfront about the fact that they are animals here and I have asked people not to book the room if they're not comfortable with animals. My carpets get shampooed monthly and the tile flooring gets bleach clean once a week and my wood floors are cleaned appropriately every week. The dog stay in a kennel when I'm not home and they are in my bedroom at night.
