Guest Cancelation

Hi,

Just got a push from AirBnB saying that my guest had canceled his stay after check in. AirBnB issued a full refund even if my policy is "strict" and I had no idea why the guest canceled until he later sent me a message that the flat didn't "suit him". I'm left with an empty flat for 4 days, having lost a day and refused a few other potential guests... What's the take on this?

Get on to Airbnb! Complain! Not good enough!They cannot issue full refund without host consultation. Demand to see the protocols they follow, there must be some official path they take, can't be arbitrary.

FB, Twitter them. Type in Contact Airbnb and options will come up.

Totally out of order, that is not a reason to bypass your cancellation condition.

I agree with you not a reason to cancel without your approval. 

My situation is different-   booked from Sept.1-Oct 1 to a couple.   They contacted me yesterday asking me more infomation about my kitchen.  I replied, gave him the entire set up of the home.  He "thought" the entire living space was his to rent.  It says shared space in my add.  He wants to cancel does anyone know what the policy is?  When I read it said up to one week its 50%.  At this point I am not sure I want them in my home.  Why would I want one who doesn't want to be here especially for one month.  He is worried his wife will not beable to find her way upstairs to the full bathroom without him??    H stated here on vacation- then said he has to work sometimes so his wife will be here by herself and is worried.  I repsonded best I could still waiting for the cancellation.  Has anyone xperienced this in past?  Will they cancel and I'm out of the full months rent?  Not fair

They shouldn't.

Call BnB and explain what has happened. If the guests aren't comfortable with the accommodation they should cancel. Perhaps if you want you can stay you are happy for them to cancel. If you happen to relet any of this time, you could consider a partial refund.
