Guest Check in

Hi Airbnb community!

I was wondering why some people see our check in instructions and some people don't. I was telling them it had to do with wether or not they were using the mobile app but even sometimes that doesn't work? Any ideas?

Because some Airbnb guests think Airbnb room is like hotel.

I've often wondered this myself. It seems as though it's a 50:50 ratio of guests who do and guests who don't find the check in information. I've concluded that the issue is usually a user problem - folks don't know to look for it (even though I guide them in my welcome message), or they don't seem to know where to find it, even though I tell them. OTOH, we've had some very experienced guests tell us that the info hasn't appeared, which makes me wonder if the system just isn't that reliable...

I've made it part of my process to check with folks the day before their stay to make sure they've found it. Onerous, but better than someone standing at the door wondering how to get in 🙂

Thanks Jennifer. It is part of my process to explain this in my pre check in message. I just wish I knew exactly why it is so hit or miss. I hate having to dig through my photos to upload screenshots because there are 6 of them and you can only message one photo at a time. It’s just annoying.

I don't have the app. So when traveling as a guest, anything that is uploaded to the app will never get to me. I have manually sent a check in message (using Saved massages) to over 300 guests and I have not once had a problem.

Again, I do use saved messages and I do check in with every guest before they arrive. I’m just wondering when and why people don’t see the check in instructions because it’s not just that they’re not using the app. I guess the general answer is... I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️
