I live in a shore town and rent my beach house in Seaside Park, New Jersey. It is walking distance to Seaside Height. Many high school and college kids have watched the TV show, Jersey Shore. It is an MTV reality series that features eight housemates who spend their summers in New Jersey, partying in their beach house, drinking to excess, getting into fights, urinating on the streets , vomiting and sometimes getting arrested. Season 1 was shot in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. My listing states: NO PROMS, NO HIGH SCHOOL OR COLLEGE STUDENTS, but I get request after request. With no picture, It is time consuming to get to the truth about who will be staying at my house. Seeing a picture would help me out.
How odd, @Shelly116 , that you want a guest picture but you do not have a portrait picture for your listing. Why? Of course, many Air BNB pictures are not accurate anyway so we have developed a better way of vetting through communication with the potential guest. What would you ask to determine the truthfulness of a potential guest to avoid the "Jersey Shore" want-a-be"?
@Shelly116 I have to agree to agree with Linda there; transparency goes both ways. While I don't agree with Airbnb's policy of withholding the profile pic of potential guests, having a good, clear profile pic of yourself, the host is important. I find myself asking lots and lots of questions of potential guests these days. If I don't like how they respond, or if they leave any doubts, I will just decline.
@Shelly116, just because a person has a photo doesn't mean that photo is actually them. You cannot rely on that. Have you have been on a young person's Facebook or instagram page these days? Everyone portrays something different from the actual truth.
I am sorry, but I do not agree with Airbnb's policy of Guests not having to produce a photo until they are accepted! They can see my photo and my home. I like to recognise the person at my front door, when they arrive! I have never refused anyone on their ethnicity or looks! As i say to people - my house is Retro and so am I!
