Guest forgot belongings

Hi everyone,
I just got contacted by my recent guest (it’s been one day after they checked out) that she had left behind some skin products and an hair blower.

I did found those things yesterday, but because they skin care products were almost gone and the hair blower was taped, I thought she left them behind purposely ( I know, my bad) and threw them away. Now, she asks me to give therm to her sister or to ship them to her.
I feel embarrassed and don’t know what to do, any ideas?

thanks!

An update:

I rushed to the garbage bin and retrieved the items, cleaned and punt in a box, going to ship.

good lesson for me in future!

Make sure you sends you the money first from the guest before you ship the items @Anisa43

Good point! Thanks!

@Anisa43  As far as I know, hosts are not responsible for items left behind by guests. We used to contact our guests in such situations but, after one complicated and ungrateful guest, we don't do that anymore. If the guest contacts us then I go to our post office website to calculate how much shipping would cost and send a print screen to the guest. If he agrees to pay we collect the money through ABB resolution center first and then ship it to the guest. Sometimes they change their minds when they see that shipping is more expensive than the item.

Thank you!
