All it takes is for one or two people to review your place poorly when they didn't read the post in the first place to screw up your rating. I had a pretty high rating (only renting a room) in my place, and the two guests who "didn't realize" I had cats and a dog gave me poor ratings for accuracy, and then for cleanliness. Well you know, I can't be there everytime the cat uses the litter box, or sheds a little hair. I have a job. I clean as soon as I can find it. And my posting clearly shows 4 cats in one photo and a dog in another, so pardon me for your inability to be observant. I work very hard to keep my apartment clean and free of pet dander because I have allergies and to have someone remark that my common areas are not clean is ridiculous. The lowest score was from someone who booked at the last minute, for which I then made sure to vacuum and wash all floors before their arrival (I only had one hour at the end of a long work day) as well as to bleach and disinfect everything in the bathroom, only to have them turn their noses up at the fact that in an old farmhouse, I have worn floors, and that I had a little clutter on the countertops (mail and supplies). I try to give everyone good reviews as much as possible. It's completely unfair that Airbnb doesn't take into account intolerant people with unreasonable expectations. Especially when they are only paying less than $45/night! If they want 5 star service in a hotel then they should pay that price and not make the rest of us suffer for their snobbery. Thank you for letting me vent!
