Help! Trying to get a Chicago Vacation Rental License

Anyone gone about trying to legally get a Chicago city proper Vacation rental licnese to host your extra unit on Air B&B?

We live at our Two flat, and the city says it needs us to not only have homeowners insurance, but commercial liability. Arent we covered with Air B&B's policy? How do we get a certificate for that?

Hi @Julie196 - We purchased a combination property insurance and commercial general liability policy through Proper Insurance (www.proper.insure). CBIZ also offers this sort of policy.

Which of the forms are necessary? I live in the unit where I rent two bed rooms. Anyone know where to get help or expiditors?

Hi Julie- check out company called At Home Inn Chicago. They have a lot of experience with property management in Chicago. They can explain to you the licensing process (which I understand can take 25-30 hours of time, not to mention reading through the ordinance to understand the laws), but they also have license expediting services for a very reasonable price.
