@Carrie225  I did that today, but I'm sort of on the fence about it!  My Airbnb is in a very summer-seasonal location, so I'm not sure if the higher price will be acceptable or will drive away the few bookings I might get.  Time will tell, I guess!

@Carrie225  I may be wrong, but I get the impression most hosts do take advantage of being able to command a higher price during peak booking times. I don't myself, my private room is the same price every day of the year. I just find it simplifies my hosting, I value my time and don't want to be constantly fiddling with prices, or checking out what the competition is doing, and it's not as if it costs me more to host during a holiday than otherwise. It's more lucrative and pleasurable for me to spend 2 hours working on my clients' upholstery projects than spending that time adjusting prices or having to respond to guest inquiries as to why the price for those dates was lower when they looked at the listing 2 weeks ago. But I can see where it's worthwhile for hosts who have larger, more expensive listings than mine and/or host as their sole source of income..

@Carrie225 Holiday months or just those a few dates around holidays?  Except for the dates around holidays, November, December and January are slow months in the SF Bay Area.

I only up my prices about 10-20% for those dates around Holidays. I use rule sets to manage prices frequently. This helps to make my listings higher in the search ranking.

@Carrie225 I think it highly depends on the local attraction and your location.

For us, we actually do take advantage of the Holiday season. We also raised the pricing on NY eve because we think people will love the convenience to be able to walk to attractions, and not to worry about drunk driving, plus we anticipate a bit more of a mess from NY eve guests. Next year we think we will be taking advantage of the wedding season Spring-Fall (we're quite new, didn't realize we would have a lot of wedding booking this year).

I guess you just have to look at the trend in your area and compare those prices/location against yours.
