Host asking for gift

The night before check-in the host asks us to buy him alcohol at the airport’s duty free store, if not chocolate from our home country is fine. Is this okay? I have never been in this situation before, I only gave a gift once because the host really went out of their way to help us out, but this is upfront and feels really weird. Tips on what to do?

@Paulina173  This is an unusual request, at least if you didn't offer to take something. Perhaps ask what the host's budget is, to clarify that you expect to be reimbursed for this purchase and that it's not a "gift."

@Paulina173, buying alcohol is Stockholm is diff from others part of the world so maybe she is asking u as a favour but i am sure she will paid you back, as @Anonymous  mentioned by asking the host budget that will make things more clearer.
