Host asking me for car information and home address

Hi there,

I booked a placed that I've never stayed at before (in the same state). The host is asking me for my home address and my car information: plate number, state, color, make model. When I asked hime why he needed this, he said that his HOA requires this information or they will fine him. Is this typical for a gated community to want this information? 

Side note: He is a "super host" with a lot of excellent reviews.

@Tara479I don't see there are any issues for providing those information.

If you don't feel comfortable to provide those information, you may ask Airbnb to cancel your reservation and find something else. If your booking is still within 48 hours, you can cancel it yourself without charge.

Every single time I have ever stayed at a hotel, I asked been asked for my address and vehicle info. When I worked at a hotel, it was mandatory to get this information from all guests. Should your paid stay at an Airbnb be any different?

@Tara479 If you and the car are coming to the property, then sure, makes sense that they want to know who to expect
