Host changes reservation to different accomodation

I recently booked accomodation. The host quickly accepted the reservation. However send me a message that the accomodation is full, but he had similar accomodation available.

I asked for pictures, but there weren't any. Because I am with three small children, I want to be certain about where I am staying. I thanked him for the offer and asked him to cancel the reservation. The host refused and wasn't very polite anymore.

What I read is that the host should have offered me the different accomodation in a "new request" that I could accept/ refuse. Is that correct?

If so, how can I make notice to Airbnb of the host?

Thank you,

You can flag the listing, the emails that discuss changing accommodations, the email indicating that the listing  you booked is "full" and also the host but to make certain you get your money back, you need to contact Airbnb.  They will need to contact the host directly or cancel on his behalf.

You are correct.  The offer should have been made for the other listing.  A host should have a separate listing for every space that he/she rents out.  You can flag the message with the little "flag" icon in the message stream.  That will prompt Airbnb to notice.

Don't cancel.  The host is trying to avoid penalties but the host is in the worng here.  Better to get Airbnb to take care of it, and potentially remove the user.  If that is the case, they will help you find new accomodations at not more cost than you have already booked.

This is how they use Airbnb to sublet property they rent without the Landlord every seeing his property advertised on these hosting sights.

So, if your happy staying in a property you have no legal wright to stay in go ahead, otherwise flag and report to this host to Airbnb and stamp out these illegitimate Hosting’s.
